Our mission
Aphasie Québec – Le Réseau is a provincial association founded in 1999 that supports, represents and helps improve the quality of life of people living with aphasia across the province.
We bring together 14 associations located in 12 regions of Quebec. These organizations, members of our network, are here to help and support people with aphasia and their loved ones.

Understanding
What is aphasia?
Aphasia is the total or partial loss of language that causes a communication disorder hindering social participation. It is not a loss of intelligence, but a loss of words.
Difficulty speaking
Finding the right words, forming sentences and speaking out loud becomes difficult.
Difficulty understanding
Understanding what others say, numbers or instructions can become hard.
Difficulty writing
Writing words or texts becomes a complicated task.
Difficulty reading
Reading texts or signs becomes a daily obstacle.

What is aphasia?
Aphasia is a language disorder caused by a brain injury, most often a stroke or a traumatic brain injury. It makes speaking, understanding, reading or writing difficult, without affecting intelligence. Learn more about aphasia.
What is Aphasie Québec – Le Réseau?
Formerly known as « Regroupement des associations des personnes aphasiques du Québec (RAPAQ) », Aphasie Québec – Le Réseau (AQLR) is a provincial aphasia association in Quebec.
Founded in 1999, AQLR supports and represents people living with aphasia, their loved ones and the organizations that support them. The Network brings together 14 member organizations across 12 regions of Quebec and contributes to the development and quality of aphasia services across the province.
To this day, AQLR is the only association entirely dedicated to aphasia in Quebec. Learn more about the Network.
