February 1 to March 31, 2021
Masks, physical distancing, video conferences: so many obstacles for a person with aphasia.
The goal of the Campaign is to raise $50,000 to adapt communication tools and help people with aphasia regain the ability to communicate.
From February 1 to March 31, 2021, you can help us in 2 ways:
- By making an online donation
- By taking part in the online auction

Together, let’s help break the isolation of people with aphasia.
Did you know … According to the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) and the Société d’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), 32,000 Quebecers are at risk of developing aphasia each year.
One person in ten will return to the job they held once their rehabilitation is complete.
Aphasia is not a mental health problem or an illness; it is a condition that results from damage to an area of the brain related to language. This damage can be the consequence of an injury (a stroke, a traumatic brain injury, a tumour) or of a neurodegenerative disease.
Aphasia is not developmental language disorder (dysphasia)
People with aphasia did not have language difficulties before this brain injury: no one is born with aphasia. Developmental language disorder (dysphasia) refers to a language development disorder present from childhood.
Our associations offer various activities that help develop and maintain communication skills.
Over the past two years, health measures have forced most of our associations to suspend their communication stimulation workshops. Some associations were able to offer an online version of these workshops for people who have access to a computer and are able to use it.
Give to “Mon deuxième premier mot” (My second first word) to make a difference!
