We bring together **14 associations** located in **12 regions of Quebec**. These organizations, members of our network, are here to help and support people with aphasia and their loved ones. Aphasia is the **total or partial loss of language** that causes a communication disorder hindering social participation. It is not a loss of intelligence, but a loss of words. ### Difficulty speaking Finding the right words, forming sentences and speaking out loud becomes difficult. ### Difficulty understanding Understanding what others say, numbers or instructions can become hard. ### Difficulty writing Writing words or texts becomes a complicated task. ### Difficulty reading Reading texts or signs becomes a daily obstacle. Founded in 1999, AQLR supports and represents people living with aphasia, their loved ones and the organizations that support them. The Network brings together 14 member organizations across 12 regions of Quebec and contributes to the development and quality of aphasia services across the province. To this day, AQLR is the only association entirely dedicated to aphasia in Quebec.
